The Event Showcase is a great way to find how other organisations, communities, friends and families are celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day right across Australia.

Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre

Every year, Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre (a Department of Education school in north-west Brisbane) hosts Indigenous students and year 6 leaders from Albany Hills State School to celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. This year they are working with Indigenous artist Melinda Serico to paint totem poles that will form an art installation at their centre. They can’t wait to welcome the students on Thursday 1 August.
State Library of Queensland

For Children’s Day the state library will hold storytime in shared language, activities and opportunities for play, learning and feeling a sense of belonging. The event will be held in The Corner, the State Library of Queensland’s creative play space for children aged 0-8, from 10am-12pm.

The council will hold a Children’s Day event on Sunday 4 August at Mossman Gorge, Queensland. It will involve lots of games, activities, arts and craft and loads of fun!
KidCademy Early Learning Centre

Murri Kids in the Park will be held at 21 Coley St Acacia Ridge to celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. The event will include circus performers, story telling and yarning, a smoking ceremony and dance workshop as well as many stallholders from community organisations with activities for children aged 0-5 years old. The event will be free and include a visit from their police, ambulance and fire officers and a free sausage sizzle plus much much more. Come along and enjoy this free and very special day, celebrate children and link in with local community organisations and elders.

This will be a community celebration hosted by TAIHS Yamani Meta. A morning of activities and entertainment with a focus on culture and education in the early years. Children aged 6 and under, with their families, childcare groups or kindergartens are invited to join in!
