The Event Showcase is a great way to find how other organisations, communities, friends and families are celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day right across Australia.

If you want to better promote your own local event, simply fill out the event registration and let everyone know how you’re going to celebrate our little ones on 4 August.


Northpine Christian College Childcare and Early Learning Centre

Children’s Day activities will be held at the centre and outside the centre on the hill, including story telling, bead threading, art activities, cooking activities/picnic and a didgeridoo performance.


Taigum Kids Early Learning Centre 1 & 2

The early learning centre will be holding a National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day event.


Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre

Every year, Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre (a Department of Education school in north-west Brisbane) hosts Indigenous students and year 6 leaders from Albany Hills State School to celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. This year they are working with Indigenous artist Melinda Serico to paint totem poles that will form an art installation at their centre. They can’t wait to welcome the students on Thursday 1 August.


State Library of Queensland

For Children’s Day the state library will hold storytime in shared language, activities and opportunities for play, learning and feeling a sense of belonging. The event will be held in The Corner, the State Library of Queensland’s creative play space for children aged 0-8, from 10am-12pm.


St Josephs School Tara

Their event will include Dreamtime stories, games and painting.


Apunipima Cape York Health Council

The council will hold a Children’s Day event on Sunday 4 August at Mossman Gorge, Queensland. It will involve lots of games, activities, arts and craft and loads of fun!


KidCademy Early Learning Centre

They will hold a children’s picnic and activities in a local park where they will listen to and be involved in storytelling and cultural activities while surrounded by and being connected with their beautiful Country.


Kyabra Community Association

Murri Kids in the Park will be held at 21 Coley St Acacia Ridge to celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. The event will include circus performers, story telling and yarning, a smoking ceremony and dance workshop as well as many stallholders from community organisations with activities for children aged 0-5 years old. The event will be free and include a visit from their police, ambulance and fire officers and a free sausage sizzle plus much much more. Come along and enjoy this free and very special day, celebrate children and link in with local community organisations and elders.


Christine’s Family Day Care

A family at the day care are Indigenous and the father will read to all the children in care an Indigenous story.


Kalwun Family Well Being Service

This National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day community event will be hosted by Kalwun Allied Services for the Coomera/Gold Coast Community.


Martin Luther Community Kindergarten

Children of Martin Luther Community Kindergarten will be celebrating, exploring, learning and acknowledging National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. This is a private event for enrolled children of their service.


Mt Sheridan CICC Sunday School

The Sunday school will run children’s activities and a breakfast.


Townsville Aboriginal and Islander Health Service (TAIHS)

This will be a community celebration hosted by TAIHS Yamani Meta. A morning of activities and entertainment with a focus on culture and education in the early years. Children aged 6 and under, with their families, childcare groups or kindergartens are invited to join in!
The event will be held on Tuesday, 6th August 2019 from 10am-12pm at Sherriff Park, Love Lane, Mundingburra, Townsville. RSVP to Yamani Meta on 07 4759 3049.


Surat Aboriginal Corporation

They will be creating a community event with different cultural activities for the community to engage in EG: cultural dances, arts and crafts, Indigenous games and face painting. Also having kangaroo sausages, which are produced locally.
