The Event Showcase is a great way to find how other organisations, communities, friends and families are celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day right across Australia.
If you want to better promote your own local event, simply fill out the event registration and let everyone know how you’re going to celebrate our little ones on 4 August.

They will hole an Awabakal Baby Welcoming Ceremony on 1st August 2019 from 10am-1pm at Newcastle City Hall, King Street Newcastle. Seventy of their beautiful babies will be welcomed to community and presented to Elders.
This is their fifth anniversary and will be lead by the Awabakal family health team at the AMS. This is a major event on the Newcastle Indigenous calendar and they are expecting a record number of guests and plenty of media attention.
Also in line with the theme this year they will be including their playgroup, pre-school and primary children in the day’s activities to show the journey of their families with their Awabakal community.
Most importantly they get to celebrate the birth of their future generations and give them all a beautiful start to life with a blessing and acknowledgment from Elders and community, which will provide a sense of belonging they hope will carry them through their journeys in life.
