Indigenous Wellbeing Centre in Bundaberg, Queensland, is an Aboriginal-community controlled and charitable organisation. IWC is holding an action-packed ATSI Children’s Day afternoon event on 4 August 2016, which will have a focus on building cultural knowledge among our youth through engaging activities. It will run from 1pm to 4.30pm and include:
• Traditional dancing
• Didgeridoo playing
• Storytelling in Art session with James Chapman
• Bush Tucker tasting
• Rock and leaf painting
• Boomerang painting
• Young Indigenous adults / teens sharing motivational stories on the Yarning Mat
• And much more …
Plus giveaways, prizes and goodie bags.
It will run from 1pm to 4.30pm so that schools can bring students, and also so that parents can come to the event at the IWC Health & Wellbeing Community Centre with their youngsters and teens after picking them up from school.
Indigenous Australian students are being asked to “buddy up” by bringing a non-Indigenous friend. The focus of IWC is Reconciliation in Action.
